Houghton Mifflin Harcourt International Publishers to Bring Virtual Sampling to Frankfurt Book Fair
Cutting-edge, environmentally-friendly technology provides a better experience for teachers and administrators
FRANKFURT, Germany — October 14, 2009 — Houghton Mifflin Harcourt International Publishers today announced the international debut of the global education leader’s virtual sampling program for international U.S. school curriculum at the 2009 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
Virtual sampling offers teachers and administrators from international U.S. schools the unprecedented opportunity to evaluate program components for all grade levels, as well as search standards, skills and favorite topics, with the click of a mouse instead of by leafing through printed pages. The new digital format not only improves the user experience, but also benefits the environment.
“With virtual sampling, our international customers no longer have to wait for international shipping or the hassles of customs,” said Terry Nealon, International Publishers senior vice president, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “Virtual sampling is a breakthrough way to expedite the process, make it more efficient and simultaneously provide an environmental benefit.”
The digital alternative to traditional printed samples truly offers a better experience for teachers and administrators. The ability to access product information from anywhere, at any time, allows teachers to make informed decisions that benefit classrooms and individual students in the short and long term.
When virtual sampling made its United States debut last month, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt became the first education publisher to pilot the digital format by offering online samples of its Math Expressions program. Currently, nearly 1,000 of the Company’s K–12 curriculum offerings are available online, providing teachers and school administrators with a faster, easier and more powerful way to evaluate its acclaimed and award-winning learning solutions. Within the next several weeks, more than 7,000 Houghton Mifflin Harcourt product offerings will become available for virtual sampling, and soon all product offerings will be sampled online.
