Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Partners with educaLine to Deliver Customized Math and Reading Programs to Spain
Much-anticipated Destino Mates program to appear in Spanish classrooms
FRANKFURT, Germany — October 15, 2009 — Global education leader Houghton Mifflin Harcourt today announced its partnership with e-learning solution provider educaLine to be the exclusive distributor of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Learning Technology education solutions in Spain. educaLine recently completed the first adaptation of Destination Math and Destination Reading for Application Service Provider (ASP) delivery, and will release a fully localized Destino Mates program to the Spanish market in the coming weeks.
“Both Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and educaLine have proven dedicated to incorporating twenty-first-century technology and innovation into their products,” said Terry Nealon, International Publishers senior vice president, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. “As such, our committed partnership has generated Destino Mates, a cutting-edge, customized offering for the students of Spain.”
The Destino Mates localization adapts Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Destination Math program linguistically and culturally, including a full conversion from imperial measurement to metric, and also aligns to the Spanish curriculum. The launch of the ASP delivery model will allow educaLine to offer Destino Mates to home-schoolers, thus extending the customer base to include private homes.
The ASP delivery model offers multiple customer advantages, including:
- Reduced cost of investment and management application
- 24/7 access from wherever Internet is accessible
- Flexibility to adapt to changing and growing school populations
- Availability, reliability and quality of service and system stability
- Support for multiple instructional models, including classroom, home-schooling, distance learning and self-paced learning
While completing the localization of Destino Mates, educaLine also partnered with the Center for Talented Youth (CTY) España to offer Destino Matematicás as a distance learning solution for students. CTY, an institution of Johns Hopkins University, performs talent searches to identify academically exceptional students to whom it offers challenging educational opportunities that develop intellect, encourage achievement and nurture social development. educaLine works closely with CTY España to offer Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Destino Matematicás as a distance learning opportunity.
